Job summary

Camp Royall, owned and operated by the Autism Society of North Carolina, seeks an overnight summer camp counselor to create a safe, fun environment for autistic kids and adults. You will live on site, provide care, and help campers grow through engaging activities.

Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, leading inclusive activities, and collaborating with a passionate team. Training runs May 19–May 29, 2026, with a structured summer schedule and housing provided.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be 18+ years of age and have a high school degree.
• Be available to work overnight Sundays–Fridays during camp weeks.
• Counselors who live on site must be 18 at the start of employment.
• Physically able to maintain constant supervision of campers and fulfill all responsibilities.
• Patient, energetic, fun-loving, and hard-working with a good sense of humor.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and supportive environment for campers to learn, grow, and thrive.
• Assist campers in all aspects of personal care, including dressing, bathing, grooming, eating, and toileting.
• Gain specialized training and experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum.
• Lead and participate in activities that foster learning, independence, and fun.
• Work closely with fellow staff members to ensure an enriching and positive camp experience.
• Be part of a passionate, dedicated team making a lasting impact.
