Hy-Vee is seeking a friendly Bakery Clerk to join our Manhattan, KS store. You’ll greet customers, assist with product selection, monitor freshness, and help maintain a clean, organized bakery. Training is provided, and there is emphasis on customer service, teamwork, and adherence to safety and dress standards.

This hourly role offers opportunities to learn bakery operations, support various shifts, and contribute to a welcoming shopping experience for our customers.

Qualifications

• Follow written and verbal instructions with confidence.
• Use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
• Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way.
• Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy bakery environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and making them feel welcome in the bakery.
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and taking orders at the bakery counter.
• Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout your shift.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish baked goods as needed, pulling product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for baking.
• Follow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping your work area clean and organized at all times.
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed.
• Operate the department register to process payments where applicable.
• Remove trash in a timely manner and maintain a tidy department.
• Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer.
• Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
