Job summary

Pike Electric, LLC is seeking an Equipment Operator to support construction and maintenance of overhead electrical distribution systems. You will assist the team in building, repairing, and maintaining powerline infrastructure, while prioritizing safety and efficiency.

The role requires operating heavy equipment, reading/writing communications, and flexibility to travel or work overtime as needed. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs and working outdoors in various conditions.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment
• Able to operate heavy equipment used in powerline construction
• Able to read/write and communicate effectively
• Able to travel long distances on short notice
• Able to lift in-excess of 50 lbs
• Willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays as required

Responsibilities

• Works safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead lines
• Properly inspects rubber goods and PPE
• Understands when to wear PPE
• Strings overhead wire
• Sets poles and anchors
• Assists with installing transformers, arrestors, cross-arms, insulators, switches and switchgear
• Assists in replacing fuses and clears faulted circuits
• Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good order
• Capable of receiving and following directions
• Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces
• Capable of basic bucket rescue/escape
• Capable of identifying primary and secondary voltage on a circuit
• Capable of installing and removing a service
