Job summary

United Utility Services seeks a Designer to develop overhead electric distribution designs and process field data, circuit drawings, and estimates. The role uses GIS software and a work management system to support utility projects.

You will update field conditions in GIS, generate construction drawings, and assist with storm restoration efforts while coordinating with QA and client engineers to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or associate degree in engineering or technology.
• 3–5 years in power distribution design/engineering.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background/credit check.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Design Manager.
• Experience with mapping/GIS software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Update GIS software to reflect current field conditions.
• Design and process construction work requests for overhead electric distribution.
• Prepare CAD drawings and review with QA and design supervisor.
• Prepare distribution circuit designs with basic understanding of drawings.
• Assist with cost estimates and reports for construction projects.
• Track design activities in the project management system.
• Maintain safety standards and participate in trainings.
• Attend client meetings to define scope and document notes.
• Support storm restoration activities when needed.
