Job summary

Gulf Island in Houma, LA, seeks an Overhead Crane Technician responsible for inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial lifting systems to ensure safe, compliant operations and minimize downtime.

The role involves reading electrical schematics, repairing motors and controls, replacing heavy components, and performing routine load testing under supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience with overhead crane mechanics.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Repair or replace heavy components such as gears, wheel bearings, wire ropes, hook blocks, and brakes.

Main Purpose

Physical Requirements

• Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.

Tools, Equipment And Technology

• Voltage meters, pliers, screwdrivers, and all other tools used in the maintenance of Overhead Cranes.

Environmental Conditions

80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors in a shop. Individuals will be required to work in changing temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc.
