Job Summary:

A Crane Operator operates a crane to lift, position, and place machinery, equipment, or other large objects at construction sites and industrial facilities.

Overview of Primary Duties:

1. Use a surveyor's level to maintain elevation grades on project sites.
2. Operate and maintain a variety of light and heavy equipment.
3. Plan and organize work efficiently.
4. Assist in unloading and assembling cranes or other hoisting equipment.
5. Operate crane functions such as swinging the rig, raising/lowering the boom, and load lines.
6. Safely maneuver and position loads over designated areas.
7. Use load charts to determine crane load and radius capabilities.
8. Perform daily safety inspections and identify potential issues like worn cables or broken gears.
9. Demonstrate Yates Core Values and Principles.
10. Follow Yates Code of Conduct.
11. Safety Responsibilities:

• Refuse unsafe work and follow safety procedures.
• Report incidents, hazards, and near hits.
• Wear and maintain PPE.
• Alert colleagues to hazards.
• Participate in safety inspections and training.
• Contribute suggestions for safety improvements.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications:

• Minimum four (4) years of experience as a heavy crane operator in an industrial setting.
• Ability to pass a crane operation certification test.

Additional Requirements:

• Operate cranes using radio or hand signals.
• Maintain safe crane operations according to company and manufacturer guidelines.
• Inspect and care for PPE.

Minimum Skills:

• Ability to read and follow crane procedures.
• Interpret instructions and work independently.
• Complete safety training including Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights.

Physical Demands:

This role requires working in various weather conditions, elevations, noisy environments, and handling heavy objects. Employees must wear safety harnesses at heights, communicate effectively, and perform physical activities like lifting up to 25 lbs., standing, walking, and climbing.
