POSITION TITLE: Laborer II

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

Position Overview

ADB seeks a Laborer II to support outside plant (OSP) installation on various utility construction projects. The role requires proven utility construction experience, technical knowledge, and the ability to operate equipment such as (Mini, Drill, Hydro, Bucket Truck) safely. The ideal candidate will be customer and quality-focused, safety-conscious, with a strong work ethic and ALL IN attitude.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor in all weather conditions, including hand digging, utility installation, material handling, ground inspection, traffic control, etc.
• Support jobsite setup and closeout tasks such as loading/unloading trucks, photography, setting up cones/signs, equipment prep, etc.
• Operate heavy equipment (directional drill, mini excavator, hydro truck, bucket truck) independently with limited guidance.
• Meet production expectations set by Foreman or management.
• Engage in training with experienced operators and foremen, learning installation and equipment operation, understanding safety risks.
• Read and interpret prints and construction drawings.
• Under supervision, develop basic utility locating skills.
• Understand the 811 locate process and troubleshoot existing utilities, adhering to policies and procedures.
• Maintain daily redline and production reports.
• Prioritize safety, leading by example and participating in safety practices.
• Train and support entry-level laborers in safety and operational procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment

• Physical versatility: sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing, etc.

• Mandatory use of safety gear: glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, steel-toed boots.

Experience And Education

• At least 1 year of utility construction experience.
• Minimum 6 months of equipment operation experience (Drill, Hydro, Mini, Bucket Truck).
• Valid driver’s license; company vehicle driving preferred.
• Class A CDL preferred.
• Certifications: Competent Person and OSHA 10 preferred (must obtain within 6 months if not already certified).
• High School diploma or equivalent required.

The starting pay is $24/hr, commensurate with skills and experience.
