Job summary

JGM is seeking an experienced Material Handler/Crane Operator for our Coatesville, PA fabrication shop. You will operate overhead cranes, rig loads, and move heavy steel components through processing, fit-up, and welding areas.

The role requires 2+ years of crane and material handling experience, hands-on rigging, and the ability to read cut lists and tags. Expect steady full-time work with overtime opportunities in a safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of overhead crane and material handling experience.
• Hands-on rigging experience, including selecting and inspecting rigging for long, heavy, or awkward loads.
• Experience flipping and positioning beams, plate, or fabricated pieces is strongly preferred.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of standard crane hand signals.
• Ability to read tags, piece marks, and cut lists, and to use a tape measure.
• Strong safety awareness and attention to surroundings.
• Willing to complete OSHA 10 training upon hire; current OSHA 10 certification is a plus.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead cranes (up to 20-ton capacity) to move, pick, set, and stage structural steel throughout the shop.
• Select, inspect, and rig loads using chains, slings, spreader bars, and beam and plate clamps.
• Flip, roll, and position beams, columns, and fabricated pieces for fitters and welders.
• Load and unload processing equipment, including beam drill lines, saws, plate processors, and cambering equipment.
• Stage material at fit-up and weld stations to keep production on schedule.
• Read tags, piece marks, and cut lists to ensure correct parts are moved to the right stations.
• Move finished pieces to shipping and assist with occasional forklift and yard moves.
• Perform daily crane and rigging inspections and report maintenance concerns.
• Use standard crane hand signals and keep people clear of suspended loads.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
