Job summary

Smart Resources Group seeks an experienced Crane Operator to safely operate overhead cranes and material-handling equipment in a steel processing and manufacturing environment. You will move, load, unload, and position steel and other materials following all safety and procedural guidelines.

Responsibilities include crane operation, rigging, load securing, and coordinating with ground staff while maintaining safety and efficiency in a fast-paced facility.

Qualifications

• Overhead crane operation experience in steel, metal, manufacturing, or industrial settings.
• Ability to read work orders and understand material tags.
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Willingness to work in a physically demanding industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead cranes to move steel, metal products, coils, plates, and other heavy materials.
• Load and unload trucks and position materials in designated storage or production areas.
• Inspect cranes, rigging equipment, hooks, chains, slings, and other equipment before use.
• Safely attach and secure loads using proper rigging techniques.
• Read and follow work orders, production instructions, and material tags.
• Communicate with ground personnel, forklift operators, supervisors and team members.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings, equipment, and hazards while operating the crane.
• Assist with material handling and general production duties as needed.
• Follow OSHA, company, and facility safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Report equipment problems, damaged rigging, safety concerns, or material issues to management.
