Job summary

Commercial Metals Company (CMC) is seeking a dedicated crane operator to support production across our precast concrete facilities. You will operate overhead cranes to move products and assist with setup, loading, and material handling while adhering to safety standards.

The role requires prior crane experience in manufacturing, knowledge of lifting and rigging, and the ability to work independently with reliable attendance.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating overhead cranes in a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting, rigging, and material handling practices.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Willingness to complete overhead crane operator training if required.
  • Ability to work independently with reliable attendance.
  • Physically able to stand, walk, climb, bend and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.
  • Able to work around heavy equipment, noise, dust and varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate an overhead crane to support production and movement of precast concrete products throughout the facility.
  • Perform crane operations related to product stripping, setup, loading, material handling, and moving concrete forms and products.
  • Move, stage, and store materials using overhead cranes and other material handling equipment.
  • Assist production crews with manufacturing activities and general labor as needed.
  • Follow all safety policies, lifting procedures, rigging requirements, and housekeeping standards.
  • Inspect work areas and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support daily production goals while maintaining quality and efficiency standards.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure safe and timely completion of production tasks.

What You'll Do

What You'll Need

Previous experience operating overhead cranes in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of safe lifting, rigging, and material handling practices.

Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Willingness to complete overhead crane operator training and certification, if required.

Ability to work independently, follow written and verbal instructions, and maintain reliable attendance.

Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around heavy equipment, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.

  • High School Diploma or GED required
