City of New York’s Office of Chief Medical Examiner seeks a Data and Surveillance Supervisor to oversee large-scale data systems for overdose mortality surveillance and reporting. You will work with OCME and DIIG partners to improve data capture, analysis, and sharing for better public health insights.

The role requires advanced training in public health, epidemiology or biostatistics, strong leadership, and experience with SAS, Excel and PowerBI.

Competenze

• Minimum: Master’s degree in public health or a related physical, biological, environmental or public health field.
• Level II+ requires a Doctorate in a relevant field with supervisory or senior research experience; or a Master’s with substantial research experience.
• Probationary period of one year applies to appointments.

Mansioni

• Lead and supervise a team of epidemiologists, data analysts, and support staff.
• Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of data systems for overdose mortality surveillance and reporting.
• Develop a strategic vision for data infrastructure including new technologies and methodologies.
• Champion data quality initiatives with standardized protocols and quality control.
• Manage external partner relationships, including law enforcement, public health and academia.
• Lead the development of dashboards and visualizations to communicate mortality data to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards for death investigation data and PHI.
• Identify emerging overdose trends through mortality data analytics.
• Translate complex findings into actionable overdose prevention recommendations and policy guidance.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for research partnerships on study design and statistics.
