Job summary

The Drug Overdose Surveillance Epidemiologist at the Florida Department of Health in Broward County leads overdose surveillance activities and maintains REDCap workflows, daily monitoring of ESSENCE-FL and Biospatial systems, and develops dashboards for EMS and hospital encounters.

You will manage datasets, conduct case investigations, visualize data, and collaborate with healthcare partners on opioid-related surveillance to support state and CDC reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics, data science/analytics, public health with quantitative concentration, or closely related field.
• Experience performing data analysis using R, Python, SAS, SQL, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Experience managing datasets including data cleaning and validation.
• Experience developing dashboards or visual data displays.
• Experience presenting data findings to internal or external audiences.
• Experience creating or revising data collection instruments.

Responsibilities

• Lead overdose morbidity and mortality surveillance activities for Broward County.
• Maintain REDCap workflows and monitor ESSENCE-FL and Biospatial systems daily.
• Develop dashboards tracking EMS and hospital encounters.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and community partners on opioid-related surveillance.
• Support statewide and CDC reporting requirements.
