Job summary

Meiji America is seeking an Oven Technician for our food production team. You will operate ovens, ensure product quality, and maintain a clean, safe work area.

You will monitor equipment, perform quality tests, complete paperwork, and help train new employees. Some manufacturing experience in a food plant is helpful; a high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some manufacturing experience in a food plant helpful.
  • Must adhere to GMP/HAACP requirements and maintain safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to read and record product specifications and perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate ovens with attention to product quality, scrap reduction, and minimal downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with all company policies.
  • Conduct routine quality tests and document results per process control procedures.
  • Assist or oversee training of new employees and complete work orders as needed.
  • Communicate changes to the next shift and report operational issues to supervision.

Job description

Essential Functions:
  • Works well with others, fostering a team atmosphere.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area at all times.
  • Comply with all GMP and HAACP requirements.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ensures all paperwork is completed timely and accurately. Communicates changes to the next shift.
  • Interacts with Process Operators to ensure product is within product specifications prior to entering the ovens.
  • Conducts routine analytical quality tests to ensure product is within specifications.
  • Full knowledge of oven types and necessary adjustments to keep ovens operating efficiently and ensure product is within specifications.
  • Monitors ovens for any maintenance related items that may affect the efficient production of quality products and takes action to resolve the problem. Reports any operational issues to supervision.
  • Monitors the ovens and the baking procedures for safety and reports any issues to the supervisor.
  • Communicates product specification issues with Quality and Supervisor/Manager.
  • Operates ovens with constant attention to quality of product, scrap reduction and minimal downtime.
  • Communicates with oncoming Oven Tech regarding the performance of each oven at shift change.
  • When in use, inspect and clean each band brush for metal twice per shift.
  • Able to properly complete and submit work orders as needed.
  • Assist or oversee the training of new employees.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to read and record written specifications of product.
  • Perform SPC (computer) data entry according to established process control procedures and product specifications.
  • Perform all appropriate Quality and Food Safety testing and documentation as required.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Notify Supervision of any issues.
  • Must adhere/comply with all Company policies, procedures and practices.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate Starts at $21.18 and at 1 year make $25.27

Accountability:

An Oven Tech will be accountable to the Production Supervisor for fulfillment of their duties. The performance of an Oven Tech will be measured to the degree of their production levels and quality of work performed in these assigned areas.

Experience:

Some manufacturing experience in a food plant helpful.

Education:

High School or equivalent or relevant experience.
