Job summary

Dessert Holdings in Aurora, CO is seeking an Oven Operator for the 1st shift (3:00 AM – 3:00 PM). The role focuses on starting ovens, controlling flames and speeds, and maintaining product quality according to SQF, HACCP, and GMP requirements.

You will partner with QA, maintenance, and production teams to minimize downtime, maintain cleanliness, and ensure accurate data entry while upholding safety policies and allergen controls.

Qualifications

• 6+ months experience in food manufacturing.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Basic arithmetic skills across units of measure.
• Ability to work varying hours and shifts.

Responsibilities

• Start up ovens and adjust flames, injector head, and speed to achieve quality.
• Contribute to team efforts and process improvements.
• Follow GMP, safety, and work instructions.
• Alert supervisors or QA inspectors to quality or production issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and perform housekeeping.
• Understand and follow allergen program requirements.
• Perform changeovers with minimal downtime.
• Notify lead/supervisor of oven malfunctions.
• Train new oven operators.
• Input data in SPC and assess quality.
• Distinguish good quality from poor quality.
• Communicate with mixers, leads, and quality personnel about issues.
• Troubleshoot and report product or machine failures promptly.
• Comply with product quality standards, policies, and procedures.
• Promote team collaboration and contribute to company team effort.
• Apply SQF, HACCP, GMP knowledge.

Location: Aurora, CO. Shift: 1st Shift – 3:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Wage: $17.60/hr.

Opportunity Overview

The Oven Operator is responsible for running quality product by following procedures, ensuring safety, efficiency, and meeting all quality standards. Must understand SQF, HACCP, and GMP. Maintain product safety and quality.

What You'll Do Every Day

• Contribute to team efforts and process improvements.
• Follow GMP, safety, and work instructions.
• Alert supervisors or Q.A. inspectors to any quality or production issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and perform housekeeping.
• Understand the company’s allergen program.
• Start up ovens and adjust flames, injector head, and speed to achieve expected quality.
• Perform changeovers with minimal downtime.
• Notify lead/supervisor of oven malfunctions.
• Train new oven operators.
• Maintain waste at 5% or less.
• Use SPC to input data and assess quality.
• Distinguish good quality from poor quality.
• Communicate with mixers, leads, and quality personnel about issues.
• Troubleshoot and report product or machine failures promptly.
• Comply with product quality standards, policies, and procedures.
• Promote team collaboration and contribute to the Steven Charles team effort.
• Apply management of Quality Systems knowledge (SQF, HACCP, GMP).

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in food manufacturing.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education/experience.
• Basic arithmetic skills across units of measure.
• Flexibility to work various hours and shifts.
