The Center of Excellence in Environmental Toxicology (CEET) at the Perelman School of Medicine seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position with tenure. We are looking for an outstanding senior scientist in environmental health sciences with expertise in areas such as air pollution and lung health, environmental exposures & cancer, windows of susceptibility, environmental influences on reproduction & fetal development, or environmental neuroscience. Other areas of interest will also be considered. Candidates conducting translational research on environmental exposures and human disease using animal models, human subjects, or population-based approaches with “omics” methods are of particular interest. A focus on translating research findings to vulnerable communities, policymakers, and health professionals would be advantageous.
Applicants must hold an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree.
Research responsibilities include maintaining an independently funded research program of national or international recognition and leading multi-investigator initiatives leveraging resources within the Center, Perelman School of Medicine, and other schools at the University, including Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, and Arts and Sciences.
Teaching responsibilities may involve instructing graduate or medical students in the School of Medicine.
The primary faculty appointment will be in the Department of Systems Pharmacology & Translational Therapeutics or another relevant School of Medicine department. Opportunities for secondary appointments exist in departments such as Medicine (Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care Medicine or Translational Medicine and Human Genetics), Biostatistics, Epidemiology & Informatics, Neurology, or Pediatrics (based at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia). Joint recruitment with the Abramson Cancer Center, Center for Research on Reproduction & Women’s Health, is also possible.
The Center of Excellence in Environmental Toxicology is Penn’s P30 Environmental Health Sciences Core Center, with ongoing funding since 2006. A generous start-up package will be provided.
