Job summary

Charter Impact is a remote-first firm providing specialized finance, accounting, and compliance support to mission-driven organizations across the United States. The Director of Client Finance will oversee service delivery, act as an outsourced CFO for clients, and lead teams including accounting, payroll, and retirement services.

Travel up to 25% is required to support client engagements. The role demands expert GAAP knowledge, budgeting, and strong client relations, with a focus on accuracy,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required, with advanced credentials preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in finance/ accounting, including staff oversight.
• Experience with government and private grant reporting and audits is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial and accounting services and direct Charter Impact teams in financial statements, accounts payable/receivable, grant tracking and ad hoc reporting.
• Review financial statements for GAAP compliance across client accounts.
• Prepare annual budgets and monthly forecasts with insights into clients’ financial health.
• Oversee annual financial and governmental audits (A-133) including work papers and liaison with auditors.
• Ensure timeliness and accuracy of all compliance reporting and communications with authorities.
• Serve as fiscal liaison to grantors, counties, and state/federal agencies.
• Provide training to client staff on internal controls and best practices.
