Overview
An industrial equipment company serving the waste, recycling, and scrap markets is seeking a results-driven Capital Equipment Sales Representative to grow regional revenue, expand market share, and build lasting customer relationships. This is an opportunity for a self-motivated sales professional with capital-equipment or waste-industry experience to develop new business while managing and growing existing accounts across the Northeast.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute a regional sales strategy to increase revenue and market share
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing customer accounts
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities throughout the assigned territory
- Present, promote, and sell capital-equipment solutions to prospective and existing customers
- Generate leads through cold calling, networking, referrals, social selling, and other outreach methods
- Conduct market research on prospective customers, market trends, pricing activity, and emerging opportunities
- Develop lasting customer relationships through responsive service and post-sale support
- Answer customer questions regarding product specifications, pricing, availability, and delivery
- Negotiate contracts and sales terms to secure agreements and close business
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity and customer interactions within the CRM
- Use CRM data and sales analytics to guide territory and account-development strategies
- Coordinate delivery expectations with customers, operations, production, and logistics teams
- Communicate customer feedback and product-improvement opportunities to engineering and manufacturing
- Monitor competitors and share relevant market intelligence with company leadership
- Align customer expectations with production capabilities, delivery schedules, and product-quality standards
- Occasionally work in manufacturing or shop environments, which may require wearing personal protective equipment, including safety glasses
Required qualifications
- Previous capital-equipment sales experience or experience selling within the waste, recycling, or related industrial markets
- Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales quotas
- Strong understanding of consultative selling, lead generation, account development, and closing strategies
- Ability to manage existing accounts while actively developing new business
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with customers
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a geographically dispersed territory
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 40-50%
- Professional and customer-focused approach when communicating with customers, vendors, office personnel, and manufacturing employees
- Basic accounting or bookkeeping knowledgeBusiness-school or college education, relevant sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, when required in manufacturing or shop settings
Preferred qualifications
- Experience using Salesforce
- Existing industry relationships within waste, recycling, scrap, or related equipment markets
- Experience coordinating with manufacturing, engineering, operations, and logistics teams
- Familiarity with capital-equipment pricing, specifications, contracts, and delivery processes
