Job summary

Volt is immediately hiring an Outside Sales Engineer in Dallas, TX. You will sell MV/LV switchgear, switchboards, and panelboards through direct channels while developing major Electrical Contractor accounts and nurturing end-user relationships.

Outside Sales Engineer – Dallas, TX

Volt is immediately hiring an Outside Sales Engineer in Dallas, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the sale of power distribution products (MV/LV Switchgear, Switchboards, Panelboards) through direct channels, developing and maintaining medium and large Electrical Contractor accounts and cultivating relationships with key end‑user accounts.
  • Assemble large project package quotations to furnish a complete bill of material to the customer.
  • Work within the Dallas/Fort Worth territory, with a remote office base.
  • Work with the Sales Director to establish, own, execute and continuously develop an agreed and sponsored account plan.
  • Identify and build positive relations with all account decision‑makers and influencers who impact current or future business.
  • Deeply understand and articulate the client buying process, identify revenue opportunities within defined accounts, and capture client challenges and requirements.
  • Use personal and internal resources to develop proposals that meet or exceed client requirements, follow the client buying journey, commercially respond, and offer proposals.
  • Oversee the effective handover to the Platform Execution team.
  • Maintain ongoing oversight of all commercial‑related engagements for customer success, satisfaction, and vendor performance.
  • Be highly knowledgeable of the client’s business, commercial condition, structure, strategy, operations and challenges to articulate opportunity, growth and risk.
  • Be highly knowledgeable of products, services, general business, structure, strategy, and operations to articulate value to the client’s business.
  • Act as an effective advocate and communicator of the benefits in supporting the account.
  • Provide all internal stakeholders and functional departments with account‑specific guidance and insights so they can execute their role and add value to the client.
  • Manage forecasting and provide information to the Sales Director for capacity planning.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5‑10 years’ experience in the sale of power distribution equipment (MV/LV switchgear, switchboards). Experience in the Data Center market is a plus.
  • A strong track record of negotiating medium and large project orders, developing new contacts, maintaining current relationships with major contractors throughout the sales cycle, and maximizing client potential.
  • Experience generating accurate project proposals utilizing MV/LV switchgear to present a complete bid package.
  • Self‑motivated with a high level of professionalism, excellent communication, presentation and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to identify revenue opportunities within defined accounts and understand client challenges and requirements.
  • High knowledge of client business and products, with an ability to communicate value to the client.
  • Capability to provide forecasting support for capacity planning.
Compensation

$100,000 – $120,000 per year. Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
