Carter Lumber is seeking an Outside Sales Rep in Bluffton, SC to grow our decking and outdoor living business. You will develop relationships with builders and subcontractors, present product benefits, and prepare accurate estimates.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years selling decking products and outdoor living items.
• Experience with wood, composite, PVC decking and railings is preferred.
• Read blueprints and perform take-offs with knowledge of local codes.
• Proven ability to grow sales and profitability.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.

Job description

Do you have a positive attitude? Are you a people-person? Do you enjoy sales? This Outside Sales Rep (OSR) opportunity is for you! Outside Sales Reps areresponsible for finding and completing sales of our full line of building materials and installed services with builders and subcontractors both residentially and commercially.Yes, you will “sell projects,” but once a job is sold, you need to manage that jobandthat relationship. You’ll keep up to date information on your customers’ product use and trends, visit job sites as needed, maintain schedules, and put out fires. A Carter Outside Sales Decking Specialist is responsible for presenting and selling all product lines with a focus on decking products, as well as establishing and growing relationships with customers in our market.

Requirements

• A Minimum of 2 years previous knowledge and experience selling Decking products including wood, composite, pvc, a variety of railings and other outdoor living products. Experience in other building materials helpful.
• Ability to cold call future customers and to grow relationships with existing customers
• Ability to read blueprints and do take-offs with knowledge of local building codes
• Demonstrated ability to increase sales and improve profitability
• Excellent communication skills, with a strong sense of customer service
• Decision making abilities and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Reliable transportation and valid drivers license

Responsibilities

• Responsible for attaining and maintaining the sales of all products, focused on outdoor living and decking
• Gives presentations to builders and provides expert advice on product features and benefits.
• Do take offs and prepare estimates for these products and ensure they are ordered and shipped accurately and on time.
