Location: Auburn, MA - Retail shop

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Position Title: Outside Sales Account Manager

- Auburn, MA

- Monday - Friday

- Frequent local travel (75% of work time)

- Minimal overnight travel

The Account Manager (AM) is responsible for managing the sales process and driving profitable sales growth within an assigned sales territory to both existing and new Airgas customers. The AM will be required to meet and exceed both corporate and regional objectives for profitable sales growth, A/R management, and customer retention within their assigned territory.

  1. Develops and executes sales plans utilizing Airgas's sales directives and guidelines to service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts. Qualifies and pursues sales leads.
  2. Cultivates customer relationships by developing a deep knowledge of the customer's business and establishing a consultative relationship.
  3. Engages customers by linking the customer's business priorities to the Airgas value proposition.
  4. Prepares sales proposals by quoting pricing, establishing credit terms, and estimating delivery dates based on knowledge of Airgas's production and delivery schedules.
  5. Keeps current with industry insights including current Airgas product mixes, monitoring competition, and gathering relevant marketplace information on pricing, products, and merchandising techniques.
  6. Partners with internal resources to achieve growth objectives and maintains clear communication regarding customer successes and opportunities.
  7. Maintains and submits sales reports (daily call reports, weekly work plans, and territory analyses) as required by the District Manager through SAP.
  8. Manages Accounts Receivable to minimize financial risk.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Are you a MATCH?

  1. Bachelor's degree in science, business, or related field required; consideration for additional related experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  2. Minimum of 3 years outside B2B sales experience with proven success in solution-selling and customer management.
  3. Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, welding supply sales a plus.
  4. Knowledge of customer segmentation and prioritization of high-value customers.
  5. Proven success with consultative sales approaches and industry knowledge.
  6. Working knowledge of SAP is a plus.
  7. Excellent organizational, communication, listening, and presentation skills.
  8. Strong PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, email) and ability to adapt to order entry systems and wireless devices.
  9. Self-motivated, operates with urgency, and can work independently.
  10. Strong analytical and planning skills.
  11. Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  12. Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and insurance as required.
  13. Ability to remain stationary for extended periods and to traverse various environments and locations.
  14. Frequent use of computer, telephone, and vehicle operation required.
  15. Occasionally lift/move up to 60 pounds.
