Job description

Job Description: Outside Plant Engineer

Join Insight Global as an Outside Plant Engineer and contribute to the deployment and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure. This role involves field surveys, managing installations, and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct field surveys to assess infrastructure and evaluate potential locations for new installations.
  2. Monitor and manage the installation of OSP infrastructure by contractors, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
  3. Provide technical assistance during installation and troubleshooting of network issues related to OSP components.
  4. Maintain accurate project records, including as-built drawings and installation reports.
  5. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and permitting requirements.
  6. Coordinate project timelines and deliverables with engineering teams, project managers, and stakeholders.
  7. Perform other duties as directed by management.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED; electrical degree or certificate preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in outside plant (OSP) operations, including permitting buried and aerial facilities, fiber sizing and design, and FTTH design for Greenfield and Brownfield subdivisions.
  • Experience with CableCAD, ESRI ArcMap, or similar software.
  • Understanding of telecommunications network principles, fiber optics, and network topology.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform field inspections.
  • Clean driving record, basic electrical knowledge, detail-oriented, and team-oriented.
