Job summary

Avail Staffing is seeking an Experienced Outside Machinist to support repair of U.S. Naval vessels in Hampton Roads.

The role requires 3+ years of shipyard experience on ABS/NAVSEA-certified vessels and the ability to pass a background check with DBIDS badge. You will remove, repair, overhaul, install and align main propulsion machinery and auxiliary equipment, testing systems during dock and sea trials while using precision tools and blueprints.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of shipyard experience on ABS or NAVSEA-certified vessels.
• Background check and DBIDS badge required.
• Ability to work day shifts, overtime and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Remove, repair, overhaul, install and align main propulsion machinery and auxiliary equipment.
• Service compressors, condensers, pumps and blowers; manage cargohandling machinery and cranes.
• Install and repair foundations for ship machinery and major components.
• Test and inspect installed machinery during dock and sea trials.
• Use precision tools and read blueprints, schematics and technical documents.

Are you an experienced Outside Machinist looking fora hands-on role in ship repair? Avail Staffing is seeking skilledprofessionals to support the repair of U.S. Naval vessels in Hampton Roads.If you have 3+ years of experience working on ABS or NAVSEA-certifiedvessels, we want you on our team!

What You’ll Do:

Remove, repair,overhaul, install, and align main propulsion machinery and auxiliaryequipment, including:

• Compressors,condensers, pumps, and forced draft blowers
• Cargohandling machinery, anchor gear, cranes, and davits
• Elevators,conveyors, firefighting systems, and more

Install and repairfoundations for ship machinery and major components of ship armament.

Test and inspectinstalled machinery and equipment during dock and sea trials.

Use precision toolssuch as calipers, micrometers, height/depth gauges, and assist withoptical equipment.

Work fromblueprints, schematics, and technical documents to execute high-qualityinstallations and repairs.
