Job summary

Kaizen Lab Inc. is seeking an Experienced Outside Machinist for Avail Staffing to support the repair of U.S. Naval vessels in Hampton Roads. Candidates with 3+ years on ABS/NAVSEA-certified vessels are encouraged to apply.

You will remove, repair, install, and align propulsion machinery, foundations, and auxiliary equipment, working from schematics and using precision tools. Day shifts with overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on repair skills for heavy machinery and ship systems.
• Experience working on ABS or NAVSEA-certified vessels is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Remove, repair, overhaul, install, and align main propulsion machinery and auxiliary equipment, including compressors, condensers, pumps, and blowers.
• Install and repair foundations for ship machinery and major components of ship armament.
• Test and inspect installed machinery and equipment during dock and sea trials.
• Use precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, height/depth gauges, and assist with optical equipment.
• Work from blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to execute high-quality installations and repairs.

What You’ll Do:

• Cargohandling machinery, anchor gear, cranes, and davits
• Elevators,conveyors, firefighting systems, and more

Install and repair foundations for ship machinery and major components of ship armament.

Test and inspect installed machinery and equipment during dock and sea trials.

Use precision toolssuch as calipers, micrometers, height/depth gauges, and assist withoptical equipment.

Work fromblueprints, schematics, and technical documents to execute high-qualityinstallations and repairs.
