Job summary

Mission Technologies’ Global Security (GS) group seeks an Outside Machinist to support PM on active class surface ships in the Hampton Roads area. You will remove, install, and upgrade industrial equipment, structures and ventilation, working with skilled trades teams to modernization efforts. Travel 25-50% may be required; weekend/overtime possible based on contracts and workload.

U.S. citizen, high school or trade school, ability to obtain medical clearance for respirator, and strong reading

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• High school or trade school education with 2 years related experience.
• Must be able to obtain medical clearance to wear a half-face respirator.
• Experience installing, maintaining and repairing shipboard mechanical systems.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, charts and/or work orders.
• Must travel 25%–50% when not assigned to local tasking.

• Support trades team by working on active class vessels to assist with fleet modernization.
• Perform all work in accordance with established quality and safety procedures.
• Work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders.
• Install, maintain and repair structural and mechanical systems on naval vessels.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time.
