Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) – Mission Technologies’ Global Security group is seeking a Marine Outside Machinist (Mastertradesperson 2) to support fleet modernization on active class vessels. Will work with skilled trades on various contracts, fabricate/install systems and read blueprints.

US citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD clearance are required. Role includes travel to shipyards and military bases, weekend/overtime as needed, and adherence to safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

• High School education or Trade School or equivalent.
• Must have 2 years of related experience.
• Must be able to obtain medical clearance to wear a half-face respirator.
• Must have experience installing, maintaining and repairing structural and mechanical systems and associated equipment.
• Must be able to read drawings/blueprints/technical manuals and work orders, and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and install/repair shipboard structural and mechanical systems and equipment on naval vessels.
• Work from blueprints/engineering sketches and work orders.
• Cut, fit, assemble, bend, and position sheet metal, ductwork and ventilation.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Travel between 25% and 50% when not on local tasking and commute to shipyards/military bases as required.
