Job summary

Churchill Downs Incorporated is seeking an experienced horse rider to support safety on the track at Turfway Park Racing & Gaming. You will ride mornings and evenings to monitor conditions and assist with horse handling.

The role requires a high level of horsemanship, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and willingness to obtain KHRC license. Qualified applicants will join a team committed to safety and competitive racing.

Qualifications

• Excellent horseback riding ability and experience with horses.
• 5+ years experience working with horses and horse racing.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to obtain KHRC license.

Responsibilities

• Catches loose horses by horseback.
• Assist in handling injured horses.
• Provide care for ponies.
• Approve all exercise riders, jockey and pony riders.
• Clean horses, horse’s shoes and feet.
• Distribute hay and straw bales to stables.
• Communicate with racing stewards.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
