Job summary

University of Nebraska – Lincoln is seeking an Outreach Specialist to promote Educational Talent Search (ETS) and recruit first‑generation and income‑eligible scholars across five Nebraska service areas. You will build partnerships with counselors, meet with students and families, and support the college application process.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of youth outreach/recruitment experience
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel across service areas

Outreach Specialist

Are you passionate about making sure first-generation and income-eligible scholars know that a program built for them exists? Join our team as our Outreach Specialist and be the reason they find us. As the Outreach Specialist, you will:

  • Serve as the spokesperson for ETS (Educational Talent Search) in the community.
  • Build strong relationships with middle school and high school counselors, teachers, and staff who help identify eligible students.
  • Meet with prospective students and families, answer questions, and assist with the application process.
  • Conduct parent and community outreach, including information sessions and presentations.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping of recruitment efforts and progress toward enrollment objectives.

Regular travel across all five service areas is required, with intensified recruitment cycles in September–October and March–April.

About Us

Educational Talent Search (ETS) engages, empowers, and supports future first-generation college and under-served scholars who have the desire and potential to pursue an education beyond high school. ETS provides access to academic, social, and financial resources to students across five Nebraska service areas — the Lincoln Metro area and regional extension services in Schuyler, Hastings, Grand Island, and Winnebago.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with youth in an educational, social-services, or community-based setting, with demonstrated experience in outreach, recruitment, or program promotion.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel across the project's service areas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related discipline
  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English)
  • Previous TRIO or pre-college access program experience.
