Job summary

TMH The Miriam Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect blood and other specimens in a satellite physician office setting, including pediatric and adult patients. The role may involve home visits and requires precise specimen preparation and documentation.

You will work under supervision in accordance with established procedures and hospital policy. Responsibilities include patient registration support, sample labeling, and transport coordination, with emphasis on accuracy and infection

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED with phlebotomy certification.
• Experience performing venipuncture and capillary puncture on adults, children, and infants.
• Familiarity with patient registration, documentation, and basic clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood and specimen samples following venipuncture/capillary techniques.
• Identify and verify patient information and enter demographics and orders.
• Prepare specimens for transport and maintain accurate records.
• Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
• Follow infection control procedures and maintain work area hygiene.
