Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved phlebotomy program.

• 1-3 years of experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital laboratory setting.
• Excellent customer service and phlebotomy skills; ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages using approved venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques.
• Verify patient identity using at least two identifiers and properly label specimens.
• Prepare, label, and deliver specimens to appropriate laboratory departments within required time frames.
• Access and review EMR orders; enter collection data and notes accurately.
• Provide compassionate, professional care while communicating procedures clearly.
• Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety policies when handling biohazards.
• Restock collection trays and notify supervisors of equipment or supply issues.
• Coordinate with nursing staff, lab personnel, and physicians to ensure timely specimen collection.
• Respond promptly to STAT, timed, and critical collection requests; assist with specialized collections.
