Job description

Position Summary:

Loaves & Fishes is a nonsectarian food rescue nonprofit on a mission to bridge the gap between surplus and scarcity. Every day of the week, we recover excess fresh food and distribute it—free of charge—to nonprofits and community partners tackling food insecurity across Greenville County, SC. At the intersection of human services and environmental stewardship, we are proud to have rescued over 2.5 million pounds of food in 2024 alone—keeping it out of landfills and delivering it to those who need it most. Our small but mighty team thrives on collaboration, compassion, and kindness.

We’re looking for an Outreach Coordinator to join us in this work, supporting two vital areas of our organization. Most of your time will be dedicated to daily operations—building and sustaining strong relationships with our food donors, partner agencies, and volunteers, and ensuring clear, consistent communication across the board. You’ll also bring your creativity to our Marketing and Communications efforts, helping to share our story through social media, marketing materials, and community events. While the role follows standard business hours, occasional evenings or weekends may be required for special events or outreach.

Partner Agency Reporting & Communications

Our partner agencies are the heart of our mission, creating a safety net for neighbors facing food insecurity. In this role, you’ll nurture strong, collaborative relationships with these partners—ensuring clear, consistent communication and accurate reporting to support our shared success.

Data Management for Agencies & Donors

Strong data fuels strong impact. You’ll help maintain high-quality records about our partner agencies, the communities they serve, and the food donors who make our work possible. This information is vital for tracking outcomes and sharing our story with funders, supporters, and the broader community.

Volunteer Coordination

Volunteers play a critical role in our daily food rescues. You’ll help keep this engine running—managing our volunteer database, scheduling routes, and making sure volunteers have the information and support they need to succeed. Together, we’ll make sure no good food goes to waste in Greenville.

Food Donor Development

Our food donors are essential partners in the fight against hunger. While we have many strong relationships already, the need is growing. You’ll work alongside the Operations team to identify and engage potential new food donors, helping us meet the rising demand for rescued food in our community.

Operations Support

From time to time, you’ll get behind the wheel of a Loaves & Fishes van to help with food pickups—whether it’s a spontaneous donation or a community food drive. These hands-on experiences connect you directly with the heart of our mission.

Marketing & Communications Support

You’ll also be part of our Marketing and Events team, helping to tell our story across social media, print materials, and community events. Whether you're writing a compelling post or helping with event outreach, your creativity will help amplify our impact.

Helpful Skills & Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who brings a mix of operational strength, people skills, and creative energy to this role. The ideal candidate will have many of the following skills (and a willingness to grow into the others!):

· Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Comfort working independently and as part of a collaborative team

· Experience building and maintaining relationships with partners, donors, volunteers, and diverse community members

· Spanish fluency is a plus, but not required

· Comfort with writing reports and working within routing or CRM software (or willingness to learn!)

· Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

· Must be able to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and background check

· Comfortable with occasional heavy lifting and working outdoors in variable weather

· Sound judgment and the ability to make decisions with moderate impact on the organization
