Job summary

The Connecticut House Democratic Office seeks an Outreach Coordinator to help legislators by initiating community outreach projects across districts. You will work with legislators, constituent engagement coordinators, press aides and the digital communications department daily to execute outreach events.

Responsibilities include developing outreach plans for each assigned member, initiating meetings with the legislator's team, and creating memos.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 2 years experience in related field.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
• Working knowledge of legislative policies and procedures.

• Initiates meetings with their legislator's team to discuss upcoming outreach events.
• Creates a written memo for each event.
• Effectively executes outreach events in communities.
• Produces mail using templates created by the digital communications department.
• Assists in creating graphics for events using Canva.
• Assists in gathering content at events for social media.
• Works on other projects as assigned by, and at the direction, of the Outreach Director.

Requires a bachelor’s degree, or at least 2 years of experience in a related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires attention to detail, good organizational skills, creative thinking, plus a working knowledge of legislative policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, proactive, and willing to work on tight deadlines with limited notice. Must have the ability to multitask, work well individually and on a team, strong communication skills, ability to think proactively, and demonstrate close attention to detail. Previous experience working in community engagement is preferred.
