Job description

SCO Family of Services is currently seeking a compassionate Outreach and Engagement Specialist to join our team in our Madonna Heights Morning Star programs. Our Morning Star program provides a safe and structured environment for women in recovery, while our Residential Counselors assist our clients in developing a drug and alcohol-free, self-supporting lifestyle.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To provide care management, outreach to minority communities, and strengthen relationships with providers and community organizations.

REPORTS TO: Project Director

SUPERVISES: NA

I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collect and promote information pertaining to the Morning Star Community.
  2. Secure and identify needed information for community and network medical, behavioral health, and social assistance providers through telephonic, written, and/or face-to-face outreach, research, and maintenance of the program resource directory.
  3. Plan and attend outreach activities with community organizations including presentations, workshops, tabling, and events that promote participation in the MSC PPW Program.
  4. Secure, manage, and cultivate year-round partnerships that serve historically underrepresented groups (Black, Latinx, and Low-Income Population) to support MSC’s mission.
  5. Represent MSC at community events and conferences to increase brand recognition and reach all program goals.
  6. Host virtual and in-person information sessions and application workshops to support MSC.
  7. Conduct phone calls, email, and in-person campaigns to individuals and organizations to build awareness for MSC.
  8. Work closely with Community Partnerships to ensure that strategies being implemented are effective and meeting targets.
  9. All other duties as assigned.

II. QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Women in recovery with experience similar to Morning Star residents.
  2. High school diploma or GED.
  3. Recovery Peer Advocate – Certification preferred.

III. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  1. Experience working with individuals and families impacted by Substance Use Disorders.
  2. The ability to establish a respectful relationship with persons served to help them gain skills and confidence.
  3. The ability to work collaboratively with other personnel and/or service providers and professionals.
  4. The capacity to maintain a helping role and to intervene appropriately to meet service goals; the ability to set limits.

IV. AMOUNT OF TRAVEL AND ANY OTHER SPECIAL CONDITIONS OR REQUIREMENTS:

Travel 75% of time.
