Job summary

Yale New Haven Health Services Corp. is seeking an assistant under RN supervision to support the Outpatient Urology unit, performing prep, aseptic care, and room turnover. This role emphasizes patient safety and sterile technique.

The candidate should have a High School diploma, BLS certification, and experience in outpatient settings; EPIC Ambulatory experience is preferred and will be valued in daily patient interactions.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Outpatient urology experience preferred; EPIC Ambulatory experience preferred; two years direct patient contact preferred.
• BLS Required. Certified Nurses Assistant, Medical Assistant or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs shaving, clipping and prepping under RN guidance.
• Adheres to asepsis and disinfection; orients new staff to disinfection process.
• Assists in applying sterile technique; sets up equipment for procedures.
• Handles equipment safely; reports defects to supervisor.
• Assists in room turnover; prepares instruments for sterilization.
• Stores and rotates instrument trays; opens sterile supplies.
• Prepares procedural fields with sterile supplies; preps patient.
• Ensures patient safety via aseptic techniques.
• Identifies specimens properly and follows universal precautions.
• Participates in Universal Protocol for patient safety.
• Manages time and maintains flexibility in daily activities.
• Keeps exam rooms stocked daily.
• Orders and maintains supplies for the office; seeks cost-saving options.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
