Job summary

Collin Springs is a Behavioral Health hospital in McKinney, TX, seeking an Outpatient Therapist to support community mental health needs. You will provide individual, group and family therapy, participate in treatment planning, coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team, and ensure timely documentation and patient safety.

This PRN role requires a master's in Social Work or Counseling, state licensure, CPR and de-escalation certification, and experience with psychiatric and chemical

Qualifications

• Experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients.

Responsibilities

• Conducts individual and group therapy sessions educating patients on psychological, emotional, or substance abuse issues.
• Involves active participation in treatment planning.
• Provides family session counseling to involve family members and support groups.
• Communicates with clients, families, and outside referral sources.
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation when needed.
• Completes all documentation timely and accurately.
• Assists care coordination and discharge planning as requested.

How you'll contribute

An Outpatient Therapist who excels in this role:

• Conducts individual and group therapy sessions to educate patients regarding psychological, emotional, or substance abuse problems
• Displays active involvement in treatment planning process
• Provides family session counseling to all patients to ensure appropriate communication and involvement of family members and support groups
• Actively communicates with clients, families, and outside referral sources
• Demonstrates proactive communication with those involved with the patient's treatment
• Works well with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, utilization review and nursing staff members
• Demonstrates active communication with team members
• Effectively communicates to UR on treatment and LOS issues
• Completes appropriate paperwork for clients in a timely, accurate and complete manner
• Demonstrates appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
• Acts as a member of team with crisis situation occurs, assisting others to ensure patient safety
• Completes accurate assessments of patients utilizing clinical skills
• Assists care coordination department as requested
• Completes all documentation thoroughly, timely, and in accordance with hospital standards
• Displays a thorough knowledge of confidentiality
• Completes releases appropriately
• Demonstrates knowledge of HIPAA regulations and abides by those standards
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of all clinical regulations, including TJC, Medicaid, and state and federal laws
• Displays active involvement in the discharge, transition, and after-care planning treatment processes Other duties as assigned

What we're lookingfor

Applicants should have a Master's degree in Social Work/Counseling or equivalent (required). Additional requirements include:

• Current clinical or social work license as required by state regulations
• CPR and De-escalation certification required or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Prior experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients.
