Job summary

Collin Springs is seeking an Assessment Specialist to support behavioral health services in McKinney, TX. The role emphasizes initial evaluation, level-of-care determinations, and patient referrals within a hospital setting.

You will engage with patients, families and physicians, ensuring timely assessments and accurate documentation. A nursing or social work background is required, with CPR/De-escalation certification or within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Master’s degree in Social Work/Counseling required.
  • Current clinical, social work or RN license as required by state regulations.
  • CPR and De-escalation certification required or within 30 days of hire.
  • Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility with adults and geriatrics preferred; strong clinical assessment skills.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates response to requests for services, including initial response, assessment, referral, level of care, admission, and follow-up.
  • Conducts initial evaluation, initiates assessment, documents symptoms and needs, informs MD for LOC determination.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service to patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers.

How you’ll contribute
  • Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, and referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow-up activity.
  • Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Possesses clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
  • Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy, and completes all pre-certification with insurance companies.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (required) or a Master’s degree in Social Work/Counseling (required). Additional requirements include:

  • Current clinical, social work or RN license as required by state regulations.
