Job summary

Unbound Recovery, LLC is seeking an Outpatient Therapist in Topeka, Kansas, with a focus on eating disorders. The role offers both part-time and full-time options and a hybrid schedule combining virtual and in-office work.

Immediate start with supervision by the Director and a structured onboarding program. Major duties include biopsychosocial assessments, individualized treatment plans, group sessions, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• Licensed as LCSW, LPC, or LMFT or equivalent in Kansas.
• Master’s degree in a behavioral health field.
• Eating disorder experience welcomed but not required. Onboarding and mentoring provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date counseling skills and build therapeutic rapport with patients and families.
• Complete biopsychosocial and diagnostic assessments with evidence-based treatment and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with the team to coordinate referrals or communicate with other care providers.
• Develop individualized outpatient treatment plans and goals.
• Facilitate group sessions and manage group dynamics and boundaries.
• Stay current with evidence-based treatments for eating disorders.
• Implement therapeutic interventions and assign homework.
• Maintain licensing CEU requirements and accurate documentation.

About the Position

Part-time and full-time options available. A typical day might include individual sessions, a shared lunch or food exposure with a client, team collaboration, and time for documentation--all in a warm, recovery-focused environment where you're supported to grow and rest.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge and practice of effective counseling skills and demonstrates an ability to build therapeutic rapport with patients and their families.
• Complete comprehensive and ongoing biopsychosocial and diagnostic assessment resulting in appropriate evidenced-based treatment and discharge recommendations.
• Collaborate with the team to make referrals to or communicate with other care providers/resources as indicated.
• Work with patients to develop individualized treatment plans with appropriate outpatient goals and objectives.
• Facilitate group sessions with clinical expertise and general attention to group dynamics, social support, group cohesion and trust, multicultural awareness, therapeutic alliance, and time and boundary management.
• Remains abreast of the most current evidence-based treatments for eating disorders.
• Implements appropriate and creative therapeutic interventions and homework assignments.
• Is diligent to maintaining all licensing and CEU requirements; remains in good standing with the licensing board.
• Completes accurate and thorough documentation in a timely manner (outpatient progress notes, group notes, billing claim forms, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensed as LCSW, LPC, or LMFT or equivalent in Kansas. Clinical license preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in a behavioral health field.
• Prior eating disorder experience is welcome, but not required. We provide structured onboarding, supervision, and CEDS-track mentoring to help you develop deep expertise and confidence in this specialty. Passion for working with Eating Disorders is a must!
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Strong collaboration skills.

Unbound Recovery, LLC was founded in 2021 to meet the rising need for evidenced-based treatment for individuals with disordered eating behaviors throughout Kansas. It is a privately-held outpatient treatment center focused on the treatment of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and compulsive overeating.

Unbound Recovery, LLC works closely with patients, their families, and health care professionals to create individualized and wrap around treatment plans for adolescents (10-17) and adults (18+). Our staff of licensed mental health professionals and registered dietitians is dedicated to meeting each patient exactly where they’re at and walking with them toward healing and lasting recovery.
