Job summary

Adventist Health in Saint Helena, CA is hiring for a day-shift medical office role within Gastroenterology. The position schedules surgeries, diagnostic tests and follow-up appointments, while verifying insurance coverage and authorizations as needed.

Ideal candidates have a high school education or GED, and/or an associate/technical degree with related experience, plus outpatient medical assistant exposure. Full-time employment with comprehensive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent is preferred.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred.
• Medical assistant experience in an outpatient setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patients for surgery and completes appropriate paperwork for surgery facilities.
• Verifies patient insurance coverage, determines whether surgical referrals or authorizations are needed and begins necessary processes.
• Fills out paperwork to schedule appointments, including authorization numbers, coding, insurance card copies, demographic sheets and preoperative testing orders.
• Schedules patients for diagnostic tests and cardiac clearance as ordered by physicians.
• Meets or calls patients to inform them about procedure dates and facilities; arranges follow-up appointments.
