Job summary

Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring a Substance Abuse Counselor to assist patients recovering from addictions in an outpatient setting. You will conduct individual and group sessions, assist with treatment plans, and coordinate care with other providers to support clients on their recovery journey.

You will work a Monday-Friday shift with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance, client records, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED plus 2 years of qualifying education, behavioral health experience, or a combination of both.
• Associate degree plus 2 years full-time behavioral health work experience.
• Bachelor's degree plus 1 year full-time behavioral health work experience.
• Master's or Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health-related field.
• Knowledge of DSM-5, community resources, clinical methods and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage a caseload in compliance with regulatory standards and ratios.
• Conduct individual sessions and facilitate group counseling.
• Complete comprehensive behavioral health assessments and individualized treatment plans.
• Evaluate treatment effectiveness and modify service plans as needed.
• Coordinate care with other recovery and community-based service providers.
• Include family and natural supports in the client’s treatment when preferred.
• Maintain client records and regulatory compliance.
• Serve as primary contact for coordination with other systems; screen and coordinate primary care services.
