SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University seeks a Senior Pharmacist / Retail-Outpatient Pharmacy Manager to lead outpatient and specialty pharmacy operations. This role focuses on strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and financial stewardship to deliver patient-centered pharmaceutical care.

The position emphasizes management of the specialty pharmacy program, staff leadership, and collaborating with clinical teams to enhance access and outcomes across diverse patient populations.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree required.
• New York State Pharmacist Licensure.
• 5+ years of experience as a pharmacist in outpatient, retail, or specialty pharmacy.
• Immunization Certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee outpatient pharmacy operations, including medication preparation, dispensing, and Meds-2-Beds services.
• Assist leadership in implementing policies and regulatory changes for hospital settings.
• Oversee staff pharmacists and resolve escalated clinical communications and patient complaints.
• Identify opportunities using sales and inventory data; respond to regulatory changes with plans.
• Ensure compliance with 340B program guidelines and best practices.
• Supervise inventory and records for controlled substances and dispensing.
• Maintain accurate records and reconcile inventory.
