Qualifications

• Experience leading outpatient/retail pharmacy operations.
• Strong knowledge of NYS and federal pharmacy laws and accreditation standards.
• Ability to develop and implement ambulatory pharmacy programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership for the daily operations of Downstate's outpatient/retail pharmacy services, ensuring safe, timely, efficient, and patient-centered care.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and institutional policies; develops and maintains policies and workflows.
• Leads development and expansion of outpatient/retail, specialty pharmacy, medication-access, transitions-of-care, and other ambulatory programs.
• Provides operational leadership for the 340B Drug Pricing Program related to outpatient operations.
• Participates in budget planning and financial management for outpatient pharmacy operations, including inventory, purchasing, reimbursement, and revenue optimization.
• Directs pharmacists, technicians, and other staff, including scheduling, training, performance management, and coverage.
• Reviews prescriptions for clinical appropriateness and counsels patients in collaboration with prescribers.
• Supports medication reconciliation and transitions-of-care activities and access to high-cost therapies.
• Supports pharmacy technology, automation, EHR integration, and other systems affecting outpatient operations.
• Represents outpatient services in committees and collaborates with stakeholders to drive initiatives.
• Maintains knowledge of developments in outpatient and ambulatory pharmacy practice and recommends new programs and improvements.
