Job summary

Kansas Gastroenterology, LLC is seeking a full-time Outpatient Scheduler to join our GI practice in Wichita. You will schedule outpatient procedures, coordinate tests, and communicate with patients and families to ensure smooth workflows.

Responsibilities include entering data into the EMR, coordinating with hospital staff, verifying insurance where needed, and maintaining excellent customer service. Training provided; high attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a medical office or facility.
• EMR experience.
• Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule a variety of outpatient procedures and follow up visits as requested by the physician, optimizing patient satisfaction and provider time by scheduling appointments in person and/or on the telephone.
• Follows physician/provider orders for scheduling appropriate ancillary tests and procedures.
• Works directly with the patient and/or family to coordinate scheduled tests and procedures, answer questions, and provide instructions and educational materials.
• Interacts with hospital and facility staff to coordinate tests and procedures.
• Electronically enters information in the patient record.
• Answer calls and tasks.
• Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients.
• Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned that may include checking schedules and organizing patient flow.
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/X-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics.
• Adheres to HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality policies.
• Provides excellent customer service at all times
• Experience preferred, but will train the right person.
