Job summary

NBHS is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in the outpatient psychiatric clinic. Responsibilities include vitals, updating med lists, and carrying out physician orders within scope of practice.

The role involves pre-visit planning, chart reviews, and coordinating care with PCPs and other providers. Must be capable of educating patients and staff, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting the care team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Education or training in the basics of medical terminology.
• One year of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with treatment team to ensure coordinated care.
• Educate staff and individuals on health and medications using current guidelines.
• Comply with agency policies and documentation requirements.
• Demonstrate confidentiality and data protection.
• Review patient charts and pre-visit planning to streamline appointments.
• Assist with medication adherence programs as assigned.
• May back up the Clinic RN by managing the provider’s schedule and triaging cases.
