Job summary

The James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tennessee is seeking licensed practical nurses to provide patient-focused care in a Primary Care setting. The LPN will work under RN supervision and perform a range of nursing duties for medically complex Veterans.

Applicants may be referred if educational or certification requirements are pending, with grandfathering provisions available for current VA employees in this occupation. A U.S. citizenship English proficiency requirement applies.

Qualifications

• Must be a United States citizen or eligible per VA policy.
• Proficient in written and spoken English per 38 U.S.C. 7402(d).
• Graduate of a state-approved practical/vocational nursing program.
• Active, full LPN/LVN licensure in the United States or D.C.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision and follow written/verbal instructions.
• Interact with patients, families, and clinic staff to support care delivery.
• Assist with answering phones, conveying timely messages, and paging as needed.
• Participate in data collection as instructed by the Nurse Manager or designee.
• Orient/train less experienced LPNs, NAs, and HTs when applicable.
