Job summary

Synergy Orthopedic Specialists in La Mesa, CA, seeks a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant for a full-time, on-site role. The PTA will work under the direct/supervision of licensed therapists to deliver exercise prescriptions and patient care per the plan of care.

Responsibilities include documentation, progress tracking, patient education, and participation in care conferences. California licensure is required and outpatient orthopedic experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Credentialed PTA educational program required.
• BS degree in exercise science or related area preferred.
• 1+ year experience in a health care or fitness clinic setting (outpatient orthopedic experience preferred).
• Active and current Physical Therapist Assistant license for the State of California

Responsibilities

• Deliver exercise prescriptions for reconditioning exercises and home exercise programs per therapist plan of care.
• Maintain proper documentation and assure patients progress according to therapist plan of care and per Physical Therapy Board of California.
• Attend and participate in Patient Care Conference with supervising therapists.
• Perform objective measurements, including psychometric, isometric, and functional measures per therapists' plan of care.
• Deliver instruction and education of patient programs per the therapist plan of care.
• Assist in performing MedX testing and treatment sessions or comparable progressive resisted exercise equipment per therapist plan of care.
• Understand principles of Functional Capacity Evaluations and work conditioning.
• Provide motivation, education, guidance, and support to patients per the therapist's plan of care.
• Assist in performing aquatic therapy as necessary per the therapist's plan of care.
• Defer clinical information from physicians and insurance companies to supervising therapists.
• Maintain clinic floor and ensure safety, water, towels, and cleaning.
• Schedule meetings with Site Manager to discuss progress and goals.
• Maintain knowledge per board continuing education requirements.
• Attend seminars/meetings as required.
