Job summary

The Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands Corporation is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance by interpreting evaluations, planning goals, and administering manual therapy at Cape Cod.

You will educate nursing staff, document progress, and collaborate with the care team to optimize outcomes, with a full-time, 40-hour schedule and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy is required.
• Master's Degree in Physical Therapy is preferred.
• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred.
• Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program is required.
• Licensure in MA required; post-2016 licensure requires DPT.

Responsibilities

• Completes billing sheet accurately by end of day.
• Evaluates effects of treatment and adjusts accordingly.
• Performs patient assessment and plans care.
• Provides in-service education for nursing staff.
• Identifies goals and reevaluation plans.
• Discusses evaluation, goals, and treatment with patient and family.
• Participates in hospital quality improvement.
• Supervises PTAs per policy and state regulations.

Job Summary

Assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance while adjusting to disabilities. Restores Patient Physical Functioning by interpreting physical therapy evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment goals and plans; administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities and in using assistive and supportive devices.

Responsibilities

• Completes billing sheet accurately by end of day.
• Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
• Performs patient assessment and establishes a plan of care.
• Provides in-service education programs for nursing personnel as needed.
• Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.
• Discusses evaluation, goals and treatment with both patient and family.
• Participates in Hospital-wide quality process improvement.
• Supervises PTAs according to organization policy and state regulations.

Education & Licensure

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy required.
• Master's Degree in Physical Therapy preferred.
• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred.
• Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program is required.
• For licensure prior to 2016, a bachelor's or master's degree is acceptable; licensure from 2016 onward requires completion of a DPT program.
• Physical Therapist – Massachusetts License required.
• Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License – preferred.

Experience

• Experience completing internship or apprenticeship program 1–2 years preferred.
• Neuro experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems.
• Effective communication in writing as appropriate for the audience.
• Teaching others how to do something.
• Excellent problem‑solving, case‑management and communication skills.
• Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
