Job summary

Mercy Hospital is seeking a Rehabilitation Physical Therapist for per diem day and evening shifts in the Therapy and Rehab department. The role involves performing objective assessments and creating comprehensive, individualized treatment programs for adult and geriatric patients under the supervision of Therapy Leadership.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor’s, Master of Science in Physical Therapy, or Doctor of Physical Therapy, with current or temporary state licensure and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Current/Temporary PT license in the state of practice.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience with adult/geriatric rehab preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform objective assessments and develop comprehensive, individualized treatment programs for adults and geriatric patients.
• Direct supervision of patients; indirect supervision of rehabilitation technicians.
• General supervision of PT assistants in accordance with State Practice Acts.
• Work in alignment with Mercy mission, values, and service standards.

Under the general supervision of Therapy Leadership and according to departmental policies and procedures regarding referral, standards of treatment, performs objective assessments, as well as comprehensive individualized treatment programs for adult and geriatric patients. Responsible for direct supervision to patients, indirect supervision of rehabilitation technicians. General supervision of PT assistants in accordance with State Practice Acts. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Shift:

Per diem - Days and evenings

Education

Bachelor's, Master of Science in Physical Therapy, or Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Licensure

Current/Temporary license of Physical Therapy in the state of practice.

Certifications

BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before being assigned to care for patients independently.

Preferred Experience

Six months to one year of experience is preferred for a Rehabilitation Physical Therapist. Prefer experience with care for adult and geriatric patients.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
