Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician for the Blood Draw Station within Laboratory Medicine. You will perform venipuncture, collect specimens, and ensure correct labeling and handling for accurate laboratory results.

You will interact with patients with professionalism, review information for billing, and ensure compliance with HIPAA, JCAHO, and regulatory guidelines while coordinating specimen transport and documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Phlebotomy certification or equivalent.
• Six months phlebotomy experience or completion of accredited program and internship.
• Healthcare customer service experience preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR systems and medical terminology appreciated.

Responsibilities

• Obtain required information from physicians and providers for billing and reimbursement.
• Perform venipuncture and EKGs as part of the Blood Draw Station operations.
• Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of specimens.
• Maintain HIPAA, JCAHO and regulatory compliance in all activities.
• Coordinate specimen transport and documentation in the EMR.
