Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for providing pharmacy services, including dispensing, preparing, and delivering pharmaceuticals; performing inventory control; compliance audits; financial transactions; customer service; and maintaining pharmacy records. They may assist in staff onboarding and training under the guidance of Pharmacy Leadership. The role involves technical pharmacy functions across various pharmacy settings such as Ambulatory Pharmacy, Inpatient Pharmacy, Infusion Pharmacy, or Pharmaceutical Research Center.

Specific responsibilities will be documented and retained internally by the Department of Pharmacy.

Primary Responsibilities

The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals in this role. They are not exhaustive of all responsibilities.

  1. Select, package, and label medication and supply orders for pharmacist approval, ensuring correct data entry of patient, insurance, and medication details.
  2. Maintain, track, and monitor medication and supply inventory levels, notifying relevant personnel of stock needs and shortages.
  3. Utilize medical informatics systems including order-entry, automated dispensing, barcode technology, BCMA, and clinical systems, supporting daily operations.
  4. Deliver medications and pharmacy services to patients or care areas in compliance with regulatory standards.
  5. Perform additional duties as assigned.
