Job summary

Boston Childrens Hospital seeks a Supervisor, Outpatient Pharmacy Operations to lead daily operations for retail and specialty services, ensuring safety, accuracy, and patient satisfaction. You will supervise staff, coordinate staffing, and partner with leadership to implement policies that support family-centered care.

The role requires a PharmD or equivalent and hospital outpatient experience, with strong knowledge of Epic Willow Ambulatory, URAC/ACHC standards, and quality metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy required; PharmD preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years in hospital outpatient pharmacy; 1 year specialty exp required.
  • Knowledge of Epic Willow Ambulatory, 340B operations, and TPA platforms.
  • Familiarity with URAC/ACHC accreditation, USP standards, and state Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage complex workflows across multiple service lines.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises daily operations for retail and specialty pharmacy teams, ensuring adherence to regulatory, safety, and hospital standards.
  • Collaborates with pharmacists, technicians, and administrative staff to maintain high-quality standards in dispensing, delivery, and patient support.
  • Provides direct supervision to pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support specialists, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
  • Provides pharmacist-level operational oversight and coverage for Outpatient Pharmacy operations in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager, ensuring continuity of leadership, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and operational decision-making across retail and specialty pharmacy services.
  • Oversees prescription verification, fulfillment, and delivery processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and patient satisfaction.
  • Monitors and optimizes inventory control, purchasing, and reconciliation processes in coordination with the Pharmacy Inventory and Logistics Coordinator.
  • Responsible for staffing, workflow optimization, quality assurance, and training across both retail and specialty operations.
  • Supports 340B program compliance, accreditation readiness (URAC, ACHC), and performance improvement initiatives, including collaboration with TPAs for split-billing reconciliation and audit readiness.
  • Ensures operational compliance with URAC, ACHC, and Board of Pharmacy standards, participating in accreditation and inspection activities.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and training programs that promote safety and efficiency.
  • Analyzes performance metrics, identifies process improvement opportunities, and implements corrective actions as needed.
  • Participates in hiring, onboarding, and competency evaluations of pharmacy staff.
  • Serves as a liaison between pharmacy leadership, hospital departments, and external partners to coordinate patient and provider needs.
