Job summary

Frey Consulting Group seeks a licensed Pharmacist to safeguard medication safety and access in a high-need, culturally rich setting serving Navajo, Hopi, and San Juan Southern Paiute communities.

The assignment runs 13 weeks with potential extension, offering on-site lodging options and a compact 40-hour work week schedule. Expect 100-120 prescriptions daily and active involvement in MTM, transitions of care, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• PharmD degree and current Arizona pharmacist license (or eligibility).
• One or more years hospital or ambulatory pharmacy experience with proven error-free dispensing.
• Demonstrated patient-counseling skill in diverse, underserved populations.

Job description

This facility delivers essential surgical, inpatient, and outpatient care to Navajo, Hopi, and San Juan Southern Paiute communities. As a Pharmacist, you will safeguard medication safety and access so patients receive therapies that improve outcomes in a high-need, culturally rich setting.

Pay Rate: 3,000-3,300/week(Paid every Friday, based on 40 hour work week)

Number of Positions: 2

Start Date: October 05, 2026

Assignment Length: 13 weeks to start with, with a chance of extension

Schedule (2 options):

• Monday-Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Monday-Friday; 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Travel: On-site lodging for travelers; a couple of options: 600/month housing, shared housing, and also have crash pads w/ daily rates; rates vary

Additional Details about the position

• Patient Volume: 100-120 prescriptions/day
• Procedures:
• Prescription Processing & Validation: Receiving, scanning, and interpreting prescriptions; validating patient information (name, DOB, allergies) and insurance coverage.
• Clinical Review (Drug Utilization Review): Checking for appropriate drug dosage, interactions, contraindications, and therapeutic appropriateness.
• Preparation & Dispensing: Generating labels, filling medication, scanning for accuracy (barcode technology), and compounding if required.
• Pharmacist Verification: Final check of the medication, dose, and instructions by a pharmacist before it is released to the patient.
• Patient Counseling: Discussing medication purpose, dosage, potential side effects, and administration techniques with the patient.
• Medication Therapy Management (MTM): Providing services such as comprehensive medication reviews, disease management (e.g., in anticoagulation or diabetes clinics), and managing chronic conditions.
• Transition of Care ("Meds to Beds"): Ensuring patients receive their medications before leaving the hospital, reducing readmission rates.
• Documentation: Updating electronic health records with medication adjustments, recommendations, and counseling notes

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and current Arizona pharmacist license (or eligibility).
• One or more years of hospital or ambulatory pharmacy experience with proven error-free dispensing.
• Demonstrated patient-counseling skill that drives adherence in diverse, underserved populations.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and tribal pharmacy regulations plus controlled-substance management.
• Ability to collaborate in fast-paced inpatient/outpatient settings and use EHR systems effectively.
• Cultural humility and commitment to serving Native American communities.

Performance Objectives

• Dispense and verify prescriptions with 100% accuracy, eliminating preventable errors across hospital and clinic workflows.
• Counsel patients daily on dosing, interactions, and adherence, raising measurable compliance in chronic-disease populations.
• Partner with physicians and nurses to optimize regimens, reducing adverse events and length of stay.
• Maintain inventory integrity and control costs while preventing stock-outs of critical medications.
• Ensure full regulatory and accreditation compliance, including controlled-substance tracking and documentation.
• Lead quality-improvement initiatives that cut medication-related incidents by at least 20% within the first year.
• Train technicians and students, building a high-performing pharmacy team that supports 24/7 operations.

You report to the Pharmacy Director and work alongside pharmacists, technicians, and an interdisciplinary clinical team. Resources include a modern EHR, automated dispensing systems, and a dedicated budget for inventory and continuing education. The role is based on a campus serving a 1,001–5,000-employee nonprofit health system.
